We took him to a place called Kids Cuts that has seats shaped like various vehicles and went right when they opened (so there was no waiting with the toys that were likely covered with myriad germs). We plopped him happily into a fire engine seat, smiled as the hair stylist put the big "bib" on him, and then ...
watched the entire scene deteriorate into moans, whines, sobs, and finally shrieks.
I'm sure it lasted about 2 months of my life, but the clock told me it was just over 5 minutes. And you can see from the "after" picture below that he was in good spirits not too long afterward. Fortunately trying to comfort him kept me from being too sad over the cutting of his little curls. (Yes, we saved some. We are not above cheesy sentimentality!)
The front is a little short, but he looks adorable and like such a big boy. Or as he says, standing up on his step and raising his arms as high as he can, "Tall!"

Sebastian's look when the stylist is putting on the cape is great. Really? I KNOW that trick and I'm not buying your 'it will be fun' routine, buddy!
ReplyDeleteToo smart for his own britches. Nice of him to distract his folks, though :-)
Oh, the after shots are just precious ... can't believe what a difference a little haircut makes ... he looks like such a grown-up boy! This stage of shedding the baby and moving headlong into toddlerhood was very bittersweet for me.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had thought to keep a little scrap of NHV's hair ... didn't even occur to me until I read it in your post ... I am so brain dead sometimes!
